Wireless Network Hotspot Case Study

UKERNA wireless conference were first users of Coventry University Conference Centre's WiFi hotspot. Supplied by Daconi the hotspot solution provides WiFi coverage of all three floors of the conference centre which includes all conference rooms, restaurant and bistro.

Access to the hotspot is by pre-paid card available from conference organisers. Each card has a unique user id and password which provides wireless broadband access to conference delegates for one calendar day. The back office billing system automatically verifies access and is capable of tracking usage on a per user basis.
